Question 1

How do I calculate profit in pips?

Accepted Answer

Profit = Pips × Pip value × Lot size. On EURUSD, one pip on a 1.0 lot position is about $10.

Question 2

What is the pip value on gold (XAUUSD)?

Accepted Answer

On most brokers one pip (0.10 move) on 1.0 lot gold equals roughly $10, but contract size varies — pick your instrument above for the exact value.

Question 3

Do prop firms count commissions in profit targets?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Nearly all firms measure net profit after commissions and swap, so include costs when planning your target.

Question 4

Why does my broker show a different profit?

Accepted Answer

Spread, commission, swap and the account currency conversion all shift the final number slightly compared to a raw pip calculation.
